MO 2003 Chemical Sites (SHP)
vector digital data
This coverage (layer) contains selected chemical site locations in the State of Missouri.
This layer was originally developed for use in the MoDNR-funded Vulnerability Assessment of Missouri Public Drinking Water to Chemicial Contamination Project at CARES. The VA project was implemented in 1991 by MoDNR. MoDNR - PDWP contracted with CARES to conduct this assessment. The project is designed to determine
which, if any, public water supplies are threatened by any chemicals being tested under the Safe Drinking Water Act.
The most recent publicly available version can be downloaded at ftp://www.cares.missouri.edu/pub/va/gisdata/nad83/schemcov.e00.gz

vector digital data
24,000
USGS 7.5 minute topographic maps, DRGs and DOQQs
1. MoDNR PDWP regional office personnel located sites on USGS topographic maps, by GPS and by DOQQ interpolation. These points were digitized and associated with attribute data. Additional data sent in by PDWP is incorporated as it becomes available.
2. Dozens of state, Federal and private database were searched for locational information.
3. CARES digitized the locations after locating them on 1:24,000-scale topo maps.
4. CARES staff reprojected the original NAD27 coverage to NAD83 using ArcInfo 8.
5. For MoDNR use, CARES reprojects the coverage to NAD27 and exports the coverage and compresses the resulting .e00 file.
